Bil-Jax 55XA self-propelled articulating boom lift
Specifications for the Bil-Jax 55XA from the archived Bil-Jax literature, and parts and service for it from an independent shop in Orlando, Florida.
The Bil-Jax 55XA is the largest self-propelled machine in the X-Boom range: an articulating boom with about 61 ft of working height, 33 ft 5 in of outreach and 23 ft 1 in of up and over clearance, with a 4 ft 3 in platform jib. It has four-wheel drive and four-wheel steering, drives at up to 4.5 mph and climbs a 45% grade.
Like the 45XA it sets up on hydraulic outriggers instead of a counterweight, so it weighs 6,000 lb, light enough for pressure-sensitive ground and to trailer without a commercial driver's license. Power is batteries or a 30 HP liquid cooled engine that runs on gas or liquid propane.

Where the literature disagrees
Figures changed between production years and with options, so the serial plate on your machine is the final word. Other archived 55XA literature says:
- The 55XA brochure cover lists 61 ft 3 in working height and 27 ft 4 in maximum outreach (measured from the edge of the footpad).
Working height is the platform height plus 6 ft (2 m in metric), as is standard for aerial work platforms. Later Bil-Jax literature carries the Haulotte Group name, which is why the same machine is also looked up as the Haulotte 55XA.
