Bil-Jax 4527A trailer-mounted articulating boom lift
Specifications for the Bil-Jax 4527A from the archived Bil-Jax literature, and parts and service for it from an independent shop in Orlando, Florida.
The Bil-Jax 4527A is a trailer-mounted articulating boom lift with about 51 ft of working height, 27 ft of outreach and 20 ft 9 in of up and over clearance. A telescopic upper boom that can work below horizontal, plus a 4 ft 3 in platform jib, lets it reach over a roof edge or a hedge and still place the platform exactly.
The hydraulic outriggers level it automatically in about 30 seconds with all four deployed together. It was built with 24V DC battery power or as a DC and Honda gas hybrid, and it tows behind a half-ton pickup, rated to 65 mph. Bil-Jax said it rivals more expensive 50 ft models for a towable price.

Where the literature disagrees
Figures changed between production years and with options, so the serial plate on your machine is the final word. Other archived 4527A literature says:
- The old 4527A page listed 51 ft 8 in working height, 19 ft 11 in stowed length, 5 ft 5 1/2 in stowed width and a total weight of 4,065 lb.
- The 2006 4527A brochure lists 3,880 lb (1,760 kg), a 170 lb tongue weight, 13 1/2 degree leveling capability and an optional 90 degree manual platform rotator and 180 degree hydraulic jib rotator.
- The later technical data sheet lists 5 ft 6 in stowed width; weight 4,200 lb.
Working height is the platform height plus 6 ft (2 m in metric), as is standard for aerial work platforms. Later Bil-Jax literature carries the Haulotte Group name, which is why the same machine is also looked up as the Haulotte 4527A.
